Power + Pop
by Kelvin Taylor

Exhibition runs from 28th February to 12th March 2017.
Exhibition Opening & Reception: 6-8pm Wednesday 1st March
Artist Talk: 2pm Saturday 4th March
Exhibition Celebration Closing Event: 3-6pm Saturday 11th March 2017.

A solo exhibition of photopolymer printmaking on paper that brings together the notion of popularity and power viewed through the filter of the celebrity mug shot.

The style of the works generally reflect the communication and artistic philosophies of the pop art and punk eras of the 1960’s and 1970’s, married with snippets of contemporary street art. The predominant print medium is photopolymer plate intaglio printmaking.

The plates have been overworked with relief printing, colourful rollups, chine-colle and collage applications adopting the instant media of applied photocopies and spray stencils, hand drawing and assembly. (Even the old Dymo embossing labeller gets a run.)

The exhibition will feature over 24 framed and 50 unframed works as well as large-scale reproductions on aluminium, books, cards and clothing.
